Below are some commonly asked questions and answers, which might help. Please feel free to give me a call on 01722 238395, if you would like more information.

SHOULD I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FREE CONSULTATION?

Absolutely! The free consultation is carried out over the telephone and lasts for approximately 30 minutes if required. I would recommend that you call me initially to talk to me in person. If I am able to talk there and then, we can have a chat which should help you decide whether or not to proceed with therapy, however if there is insufficient time available, we can arrange a mutually agreeable time to discuss things further.

 

No actual therapy is undertaken during this phone consultation. It is provided as an opportunity for you to talk to me, to find out more about myself and the therapies I offer, how and why they work, how I can help you and for you to ask any questions you may have.

 

If you feel uncomfortable contacting me by phone or it is inconvenient to do so then by all means contact me by email and I will respond as soon as I am able.

HOW MANY SESSIONS OF HYPNOTHERAPY OR COUNSELLING ARE REQUIRED?

 

It really depends on the individual, the therapy used and the issues you are aiming to resolve. No two people are alike.

 

You may well notice immediate effects following the first session of hypnotherapy and therefore for some, one or two sessions may be sufficient. Normally, however, between three and six sessions are required. On occasions more may be necessary and some of my clients like to come for regular monthly sessions once their issues are resolved, purely to benefit from the relaxation and to keep stress levels down!

Counselling works in a different way. Some clients like to come for just a handful of sessions, others may have weekly appointments over many months. I'm happy to be led by you and what you find most beneficial.

DO ONLINE SESSIONS WORK AS EFFECTIVELY?

Definitely! I offer online sessions for each of the therapies available, with the exception of EMDR, Past Life Regressions and Reiki.

Online sessions work in a very similar way as they would if I were to see you face-to-face. They are as effective online as they are in-person. Some prefer the convenience and comfort of being in their own home, with no travel time, others like to be in an environment away from home and like to be in the presence of the therapist. It is purely personal preference.

Once we have set up an appointment, I will send you a registration form prior to the first session together with some information regarding my practice, policies and the session itself. The form needs to be completed and returned to me in advance.

We will then connect for the appointment using a video link. You will need to ensure that you have a place where you can relax undisturbed and, if undetaking hypnotherapy, a place where your body and head are fully supported, for example on a reclining chair, the sofa or your bed. The appointment will then progress as it would in a clinic environment.

I'M SLIGHTLY ANXIOUS ABOUT WHAT'S INVOLVED. WHAT CAN I DO TO ALLAY MY CONCERNS?

This is perfectly normal! For some people, the thought of doing something new and/or something they may not know too much about can understandably be of concern. Even just talking to someone you don't know for the first time about things that are often very personal for you, can be intimidating and take considerable courage to do so. That is why I like to offer a free initial telephone consultation so that you can talk to me about any apprehensions you may have and I can talk through what’s involved, how gentle and easy the therapies are and how it can ultimately benefit you.
